Small kitchen appliances and homeware carry the widest gap between RRP and street price of anything we track. A stand mixer with a £499 RRP may never have sold above £350 in the UK; the "discount" is baked into the label. Price history is the only honest guide.

How to read a home & kitchen deal

Look for the price history line on the deal page. If today's price is the lowest recorded, that's the signal. If the product has bounced between the same two prices for a month, the "drop" is the retailer's normal rotation and it will come round again.

Brand matters more here than in large appliances. Kenwood, KitchenAid, Tefal, Ninja and Dualit hold their value and rarely discount deeply outside sales events; when they do, it's worth acting.

What the specs mean

Air fryers. Capacity is quoted in litres; 4 to 5 litres suits two people, 7 litres and above a family. Dual-drawer models let you cook two things at different temperatures. Wattage above 1500 W makes little difference to results.

Coffee machines. Bean-to-cup machines grind fresh and cost more to buy but pennies per cup; pod machines are cheap to buy and expensive to run. If you drink more than two cups a day, bean-to-cup pays back within a year.

Kettles and toasters. Rapid-boil and variable temperature are the only features that change daily use. Everything else is finish.

When home & kitchen prices drop

The run-up to Christmas is the peak: small appliances are gifts, and retailers discount hard from mid-November. January clears the leftovers. Mother's Day and the spring bank holidays bring smaller waves. New product launches (Ninja and Shark release annually) push the previous version down for good.

What to avoid

Multi-buy bundles where you don't need the second item; "exclusive colour" listings that carry a premium for nothing; and third-party sellers on marketplaces offering big-brand kitchenware at implausible prices, which is where counterfeits live.
