Best watch deals — October 2026

Watches have the largest RRP-to-street gap of any category we track. A fashion brand's £299 RRP is a starting point for negotiation, not a price anyone pays, and authorised UK retailers routinely sell at 40 to 60 percent below it. The discount is normal; the question is which retailers are genuine.

How to read a watch deal

Price history matters more than percentage. A watch at 55 percent off that has been 55 percent off for six months is at its normal price. One that dipped from 40 to 60 percent off this week is worth a look.

Buy from an authorised retailer, which is what the retailers on this site are. Authorised means the manufacturer's warranty applies and the piece is what it says it is. The grey market offers deeper discounts and no guarantee of either.

What the specs mean

Movement. Quartz is battery-powered, accurate and cheap to maintain. Automatic is mechanical, wound by wrist movement, and needs a service every five to seven years. Solar quartz never needs a battery.

Water resistance. 30 m means splash-proof, not swimming. 100 m is fine for swimming; 200 m for diving. The metres are a pressure rating, not a depth.

Case size is measured across the dial excluding the crown. 38 to 40 mm suits most wrists; over 44 mm wears large.

Crystal. Sapphire resists scratches; mineral glass doesn't. On a watch you'll wear daily, sapphire matters.

When watch prices drop

Christmas and Valentine's are the peaks; the January sales and late summer are the troughs. Fashion brands (Armani, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors) discount continuously; Swiss brands (Tissot, Seiko's upper ranges) rarely do outside end-of-line clearance.

What to avoid

Marketplace sellers with no UK address; listings that don't state the reference number; and "RRP" figures that no authorised UK retailer has ever charged, which is most of them.
